Growing up on a farm in the Emmental, shaped by a culture that wrested its existence from nature for centuries, I discovered floral design through Ikebana as a teenager.
Japanese floral art, which is artistically, culturally, geographically and essentially so far from my roots, fascinated me in its poetic simplicity and pure artistic of depicting nature.
After a classic apprenticeship as florist in a flower shop in Bern, I worked in Zurich and Basel for several years. The path seemed pre-determined – master florist, own business, family…
In my mid-twenties I wanted to fulfill my heart’s desire, packed my backpack and headed for southern Africa on my own… after that, everything was different!
